Cross country trip

When my sister graduated college she and her best friend from took a cross country trip. They started by driving down the east coast until they hit Georgia, then they went across the south through Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico etc. until they hit California. They ended up staying in California the longest because they loved it so much (her friend who went with her ended up moving to California because of this trip). Then they went up the west coast and across the north back home. They planned this whole thing out for weeks, how much money they would need, gas, a whole driving schedule so they could make it home in a month. They ended up extending their trip numerous times until they finally came back after two and a half months. They had nothing but what they could fit in their car (they brought along a tent just in case) and they never stayed in a hotel once. They visited people they knew and stayed with them and when they didn't know anyone they stayed with people they met or slept in their car or in their tent. Sometimes they would just continue driving through the night in shifts and then sleep on the beach the next day. She still talks about her trip a few years later and I know she had such a great time. I think this is one of the coolest things she has done and I hope that I do something like this one day.
